Apple Butter

Updated: May 15, 2021

Yield:

1½ jars

Ingredients:

500g apples

40g brown sugar

½ tbsp lemon juice

½ tsp cinnamon

½ package vanilla sugar (4g)

Preparation:

1) Apple Butter doesn’t contain butter; rather it is a delicious apple sauce. You can use it as a topping for pancakes, crépes and waffles, mix it into a joghurt or further use it for a layered dessert in a glas.

2) You’ll get the best results when you’re using apples which have a sour note, because later on sugar will be added and you don’t want to make the Apple Butter too sweet.

3) So take your apples, remove the core and cut them into small pieces.

4) Put the fruit into a pot, preferably a non-stick one, so you don’t risk the mixture burning and you don’t have to babysit the whole cooking process.

5) Add in the brown sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.

6) Mix it well, cover it and let it simmer on medium low heat.

7) When the apples have softened, puree it with a hand blender.

8) If you’re happy with the taste and don’t feel the need for more sugar, then it’s already time to fill it into a jar.
